Title: 111 Dessins faits à Buchenwald 1944-1945
Description: Paris: La Bibliothèque Francaise, 1945 (1st ed.); 25cm, [2+]11[+1]pp., 111 drawings (of which 6 portraits and 5 drawings in colour), loose leaves as issued, loose front and back cover. Preface by Julien Cain. Limited and numbered edition (this is 341/600), dedication copy. Third page of table of contents is missing, all drawings complete, front cover slightly soiled and some wear on this cover's left edge. Rare! ¶ Boris Taslitzky (1911-2005) was a French-Jewish painter in the socialist-realist school, influenced by Gustave Courbet. These 111 drawings, however, are of a more free hand and capture the camp life penetratingly. The collection has been published in three different editions: 1. 1-100 on vélin de Rive paper; 2. 101-600 on vélin pur fil de Marais, and 3. 601-3.100 on papier de châtaignier. Our edition is the second one, very rare now. With a dedication in ballpoint by the artist on the 1st free endpaper. All in all a v. good copy.
