Here, the paintings in the museums of Amsterdam, Alkmaar, Haarlem, Leyden, the Hague, Rotterdam, Dordrecht and Utrecht are presented by the author, serving as a (French) guide not only through the museums but also in the respective towns. The front cover decoration by René Binet is very elegant and rich: the gilt tulips, all different, and their embossed leaves make a very fresh and wealthy impression. This edition's cover alone is a work of excellent book-art. The other 9 vols. also available in the deluxe edition, partly in a lesser condition.
