Egerton, et al., 1823; xx+960pp., engraved portrait, glossary, printed in double columns, large 8vo, original marbled end-papers, orig. full calf w. raised bands, mounted name shield and gilt decorated panels and borders, gilt stamped board edges, name lable pasted on. The book's back has been professionally restored w. the original back remounted (small parts at bottom and top missing), traces of removed cellotape visible, first few pages (title-p. and portrait included) waterstained, else a very good copy again. ¶ although not stated, this may be a reprint of one of the 8 vols. of the Third Variorum Edition, printed for the same book dealer and his 40 English partners in 1821, on which the modern Shakespeare research was founded. In the titles and throughout the book, the Bard's name is spelled archaically.
