With engraved titlepage and frontispiece; text within black outline. Copper clasps incomplete; bookblock loosening; used (leather is coming loose from the wooden boards). Not in Brunet, nor in Bibliotheca Belgica. Thomas a Kempis (1379-1471) was a religious author. Member of the Brethren of the Common Life at Deventer. He joined the Windesheim Congregation (Augustinian Canons Regular) at Agnietenberg monastery, where he remained almost continually for over 70 years.
