The introduction gives a history of colour-theory related to vision, accompanied by a set of plates to test colour-blindness. Each of the 11 plates presents a series of letters and numbers in two colours against a different colour ground, like an optometrist's Snellen chart of alphanumeric capitals first published in 1862 and still used today. Bookblock loosening; spine and corners somewhat damaged; name on titlepage; otherwise a good copy.
