Numbered edition of 50 copies (this is nr. 18) on shaped paper Van Gelder with watermark. With tipped-in bookmark of the former owner J.F. Platevoet. Spine damaged; backcover missing upperright corner and some other traces of use along margins; otherwise a good, uncut copy with a signed dedication by the author to L. Theunissens. Rare copy of a description of the content of the book 'Recensio Plantarum' by Johannes Herman (ca 1595-1674), apothecary and botanist at Brussels in the seventh century. Including a short history of the pharmacy in Belgium by Charles Rigout, pharmacist at Antwerp. The 'Recensio Plantarum' was published in 1652 in Brussels and is a catalogue of the medicinal plants in Herman's garden.
