First edition; 1000 copies printed by Atlanta Press, New York; 320 245 mm; pp. 15 + (1); the text by Livshits on Hyleia, the futurist group founded in winter 1910/ 11 by himself and the three brothers David, Nicolai and Vladimir Burliuk at Chernyanka (near the Black Sea) and later developing in St. Petersburg into the Cubo-Futurist group with Khlebnikov, Kamenski, Kruchenykh and Mayakovski; with a selfportrait after a drawing by David Burliuk as title-illustration; illustrated throughout the text after early works (1908-11) by David and Vladimir Burliuk, 2 group photographs (1913) showing members of the Burliuk family, Livshits, Anton Besval and Mayakovski and a vignette signed 'Burliuk 1931' on last page. David Burliuk left Soviet Russia for America ; Livshits, who stayed, was probably executed in 1939. In 1933 'Gileia' became the first chapter of Livshits' book of memoirs published in Russia. 'The One-and-a-half-eyed Archer' (Markov p. 322). Two small stamps of former owner on last page, edges of cover somewhat chipped and slightly sunned, gold of decoration partly worn off.
