David Burliuk left Soviet Russia for America ; Livshits, who stayed, was probably executed in 1939. In 1933 'Gileia' became the first chapter of Livshits' book of memoirs published in Russia. 'The One-and-a-half-eyed Archer' (Markov p. 322). Two small stamps of former owner on last page, edges of cover somewhat chipped and slightly sunned, gold of decoration partly worn off.
