Description: New York, Maryi N. Burliuk, 1927. stapled grey-brown wrappers printed and decorated in green on both sides after typographic design and a drawing by David Burliuk. First Edition; 305 x 236 mm; pp. 20 + (4); text and design by 'poet, engraver, lector, and futurist' David Burliuk; illustrated throughout in the text mainly after drawings and paintings by David Burliuk made during or inspired by his stay in Japan in 1920-22: Burliuk had reached Japan across Siberia and after a stay in Wladiwostok, 'an oasis for (veteran) futurists' (Markov p. 318). His brothers Vladimir and Nicolai had died a violent death by then, respectively in 1917 in World War I and by liquidation by the Reds in 1920. From Japan Burliuk and his wife moved to the United States in 1922. Mayakovski vistied them there in 1925. After some group entreprises, such as 'American LEF', Burliuk published inidividually and with remarkable vitality from 1924 until his death in 1967, first under his own name, later under that of his wife Maryi (or Marianna). He wrote books and pamphlets on the arts, as well as prose and poetry, often based on his Siberian and Japanese experience. Spine reinforced with cellotape.
