Signed and dedicated in 1895, by the author to William Ince (1825-1910), a British theologian, and the Regius Professor of Divinity at Oxford. Dark green boards, with gilt images of the churches of St Olaves, and Allhallows Staining, title and author to front board, gilt detail to spine and roughcut pageblock head. Boards are worn at edges, corners and spine, with split at rear board spine hinge point. Watermark to rear board, external only. Roughcut pageblock is tanned and discoloured, leading into page edges and endpapers. Several light gutterbreaks noted within, and blemish and small closed tear noted at the edge of the plate at page 44a. Otherwise content is remarkably clean and bright, and pages are secure. CN.
