Minor marks on the page blocks and pages throughout; some of the pages are uncut; a few rough cut and nicked edges throughout. Labels on some of the pastedowns. Previous owner's details (in fountain pen) on the early pages of vols. 4, 7 and 8. Vol. 3 has portions of cover loss on the spine, with repair tape; vol. 4 has splits and tears to the spine ends. Partial splits to some hinges; binding visible at points, but remains intact. All content remains clear. Publication years / editions; vols.1 and 2: 2nd edition, 1863; vol.3: 3rd edition, 1874; vol.4: 1868; vol. 5: 1875; vol.6: 1880; vols.7 and 8: 1887. CM. Good.
