Description: London, Longmans, Green, Reader and Dyer. 1868. hardcover. Used, Thick hardcover with no jacket. "Yours faithfully, John Timbs" inked below portrait on frontispiece - possibly a facsimile. Boards lightly scored in places with one or two small stains and a larger instance in middle of front. Leading corners very frayed and worn. Minor wear on edges. Spine is faded, with superficial creases down length and bumps and wear on head and foot. Page block yellowed and uneven. Binding has been reinforced at front and back, with adhesive strips visible. Small sticker on front pastedown; penned writing on FEP. Binding visible on next few pages as well as some near middle within; slightly detached at top through abstract and preface pages, with evidence of tape. Frontispiece and protective tissue foxed. First few pages of the main body are damaged at leading edge but no text obscured. Pages are generally clean and tight for age, with pencil marginalia in around 5% of whole, a few stains and dog-eared corners, and light tanning at edges, but all content remains bright and well-preserved. TS. Good/No dust jacket.
