Title: Shakespeare's Julius Caesar with Plutarch's Life of Julius Caesar in North's Translation
Description: Oxford, Clarendon Press. 1916. hardcover. Two books in one. The first dated 1916 (Julius Caesar) and the second editied by Carr (1908). An authoratative volume on Caesar and his public portrayal. Ex-Libris sticker of Arthur Melville Clark and contains a number of his annotations and observations in extremely neat pencil. Clark wrote extensively on Shakespeare as well as Sir Walter Scott and the appearance of his marginal notes suggests they contributed to his introduction to the 1946 Everyman Edition (JM Dent) of Shakespeare's play. Extremely scarce in this volume and although the covers show sign of wear (lightly soiled with bumps to head and foot of spine) the previous owner's embellishments make this a valuable work. Good/No Dust Jacket.
