1477. (INCUNABLE LEAF). PANORMITANUS DE TEDESCHIS, Nicolaus - Leaf from Lectura super secundo Decretalium, vol 3. (Maculature).

Title: Leaf from Lectura super secundo Decretalium, vol 3. (Maculature).
Description: Cologne, Johann Koelhoff, 1477. 32 x 20 cm. One incomplete leaf, that apparently had been used as filling for a book cover. On both sides a column of text plus a half column lengthwise. Not rubricated and without notes. No page numbers (these were only invented later), but two leaves have a section indication: q 3 and q 4. A few wormholes and spots. We have about ten leaves with the same typographic design, which were probably close together in the book. Some have a visible watermark: a crowned chalice with three fleur-de-lis symbols against each other, and a stylized Gothic letter 't' below it. There are a few headings, with guide letters where capitals should have been drawn: Sepe stingit, Sollicit, Constitutis and Constitutus. The text concerns commentary on decretals, often by Pope Innocent III: ecclesiastical laws, which however also often regulated daily life. The text is in Latin and is full of abbreviations, which however can be easily overcome with some practice: 'Inno' = Innocentius for example. The ISTC number of this incunabulum is ip00059000. (The page is too large for the scanner).
