The translation into Dutch, De geverfde vogel by Mischa de Vreede, was a great success for the Bezige Bij with 15 editions in ten years, followed by a new translation by Oscar Timmers with twelve editions in total. Lubberhuizen was Kosinski's Dutch publisher and a great stimulator.
