Author: NOOSE, Melita Title: Blondes Prefer Gentlemen. The Ingenuous Diary of an Amateur. Translated into English by "Melita Noose".
Description: Londen, Stanley Paul & Co., Ltd., 1926. Original wrappers (design signed 'Moorsum'). 126 p. 2nd edition. Spine worn, cover with dog-ear - well read, name in pencil in front, minor traces of use. Parody in diary form of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, the novel by Anita Loos that had previously appeared in 1926. Loos' lighthearted book was a big bestseller and was already being performed as a successful play at the time of publication of this parody (October 1926). In reality it is not a translation; the author is Nora Kathleen Begbie Stanley (1885-1978), who published a number of novels under the name Nora K. Strange. Funny cover drawing with blonde girls and their attributes.
