GOLL, Claire & Ivan - Poèmes de la vie et de la mort. Avec deux radiographies.

Title: Poèmes de la vie et de la mort. Avec deux radiographies.
Description: Paris, Jean Budry & Cie, 1927. 26 x 19 cm. Original wrappers with title ticket. 48 p. Radiographic pictures (Röntgen photos) of Ivan and Claire Goll as a frontispice (!). Printed in 360 numbered copies. 1st edition. A bit browned, some traces of use, a few dents in the backside. Inscribed to the German author and film critic Willy Haas (a friend of Kafka), signed by Ivan & Claire Goll, their names intertwined! Willy Haas (1891-1953) founded the magazine Die literarische Welt, where Ivan Goll published stories and poems. Love dialogue between the two authors, yet grazing death and illness. Thirteen from Claire to Ivan, followed by thirteen poems back. 'J'attends notre mort/ Comme un enfant les vacances', full of ardour: 'Déchire moi en mille morceaux/ Tigre royal de mon coeur!' and body aspects up close: climbing vertebrae like rocks, the Arc de Triomphe of your arms, the love cataract that no surgeon can operate, but also about eglantines like 'socialist roses' that will weep at your grave. Ivan or Yvan Goll, actually Isaac Lang (1891-1950), the great French expressionist writer of German-Jewish descent, in 1921 married Claire Aschmann (1890-1977). She is best known in the Netherlands as a Privé-domein author with her ironic autobiography Alles is ijdelheid.
