Leather partly discoloured, a bit loosening; moiré silk endpapers loose from the cardboard stuffing of the binding; silk paper from Raphael's likeness torn; first quire loosening from the book block. However, in a very reasonable condition for a Roycroft book. Hubbard tells in his refreshing way about Raphael, Leonardo, Botticelli, Thorwaldsen, Gainsborough and Velasquez. Illustrated with pictures of the artists, vignettes and some very nice initials (book design: Samuel Warner).
