Volume 2 with parts three and four has a lager spot of chafing to leather on one of the corners. First plate of part one lacks a small part of one corner, not affecting the printed area. One other plate in the third volume with a small tear in the margin. Book illustrated with 156 beautiful colour plates with illustrations after miniatures. Verso not printed. Text with beautifully illustrated borders based on Persian and Hindu art. Chromotypes by G. de Malherbe. Heavy set weighing about 18.6 kg.
