Slender octavo contemporary half calf (spine quite rubbed), original illustrated front wrapper bound in; 31pp and nine pages of adverts. ¶ Slender but tightly packed and eminently useful, with clear and concise descriptions of the wares of various tobacco, cigarette and pipe makers and merchants. At the end we learn of the smoking competitions or 'Cloudy Battles' held by tobacconists in London and the provincial cities. The advertisements are placed, of course, by some tobacconists or pipe makers but the ancillary vices are also here: oysters, condensed milk, guns, and Australian wine, with a full page advert for Auldana Wines.
