Title: Josef Bramer : ôlbilder, Aquarelle Und Zeichnungen 1969-1973
Description: Vienna, Austria, Galerie Zentrum, 1973. Hardcover. Black boards with color illustration and white text. ~35 unnumbered pages. Features color and bw illustrations. "An almost square tableau, with the massively protruding portrait of a young man placed in the central axis. In clown costume? Hard to define. It is a brown-green Kaspar robe with a strictly symmetrical ruff. 'Kaspar,' evidently a fool himself, points with his index finger at the other fools, whom he mocks in his own way. His forehead is furrowed. The whiskers, painted with the finest brushwork, astonishing meticulousness, and a love of detail, follow the curves of the upper lip. (They are reminiscent of the sensual style of Dutch realism of the late 17th century.) The dark eyes, slightly veiled in melancholy, seem somewhat rigid in their size. Countless ringlets spill out from under the colorful hat, framing the head that completely dominates the panel. Kaspar is a sensitive creature, somewhat startled from his lost state." - translated from introduction. Fair, spine has some signs of age, first three pages are loose but in good condition otherwise .
