His father, Josef Benesch (born on March 20, 1850) in Gr. Hyska; died in 1906 in Brno) was a cabinetmaker by trade. Since he also painted pleasant furniture, the boy became familiar with paint and brushes at an early age. Benesch's mother (born on November 18, 1847; died in 1935 in Brno) was named cacilie.
