Title: Larry Stanton: Painting and Drawing
Description: Pasadena, Twelve Trees Press, 1986. Hardcover. A dark blue fabric casebound book with debossed black text on the spine. There is a matte blue dust jacket with black text on the spine. The end pages are a deep forest green. Unpaginated. Profusely illustrated with color images. "Larry Stanton was a portraitist. He was always drawing people. He didn't exhibit much. Like most portraitists he was shy about showing his work, the worry about 'likeness', (perhaps a wrong notion) always seems to intervene. A kind of naive notion that the portrait IS them seems to take place. Larry struggled with this and slowly his struggle was beginning to bear fruit, a fact which is visible in the selection of his drawings and paintings reproduced here. VG/VG: Some nicks to the dust jacket cover. Otherwise, clean pages and sharp corners with tight binding.
