Title: Wagner Nándor
Description: Japan, TAO Foundation, 2006. Hardcover. Gray slipcase with silver letters on front and spine, stapled at bottom. Two cloth-bound blue/green volumes. Blue Vol: (17) 18-126 pp. Green Vol: Unnumbered pages. Chiefly color and b+w illustrations. "As a sculptor, Wagner always went his own way. As a sculptor, painter, and architect he was always independent and never attached to any group. He had no other occupation. His time was spent entirely at home or in his studio. The buildings, gardens, and furniture that comprised our home and studio in Mashiko were almost entirely built by the two of us. Several of Wagner's monumental works can be found in each of his three countries, Hungary, Sweden, and Japan. There had, however, never been a public showing of his work. Since September 2000, three years after his death, exhibitions of his work have been held twice each year in Mashiko, in the fall and in the spring. This is the first time that a collection of photographs has been assembled, to give everyone the opportunity to see his work. The collection includes photographs of virtually all of his work in Japan, plus as many as possible of the hundreds in Hungary and Sweden. Here we see almost the whole of Wagner's legacy. Here we hand on to the next generation the work that best illustrates the path that Wagner pursued and what he wished to say." - Wagner Chiyo. VG+ .
