Title: Hans Hofmann : Major Paintings, 1935-1964
Description: Scottsdale, AZ, Riva Yares Gallery, 1999. Softcover. Green glued wraps with gray text. (1) 2-32 pp. Chiefly color illustrations. Hans Hofmann, born in Bavaria, is considered by many to be the "Father of Abstract Expressionism," because of his influence on the First Generation New York School, a group that included Jackson Pollock, Willem de Kooning, and Mark Rothko. He was both the founder of his own school in New York (1933-1958), and also a dynamic painter whose works exemplified his theory of "tensions" and "push/pull" relationships in the picture plane. VG, minor marks on spine from use, exlib with sticker on spine, rear cover, inside rear cover - all pages in excellent condition.
