V1: (6), vii-xii, 1-612. 558 black-and-white illustrations. V2: (4), 613-1264. 450 black and white images, in addition to 95 watermarks. Two volume set. Giovanni Battista Piranesi was born near Venice in 1720 and died in Rome in 1778. He was the most influential etcher of the 18th century and the major artist in this medium between the times of Rembrandt and Goya. VG: Very clean exlibrary copies with stamps on first and last pages, and top and bottom text blocks. Volume two also has a stamp on its front free end page. Sticker at the base of the spine under the mylar jacket. Otherwise in great condition, very little sign of use.
