Author: Noggle, Anne and Janice Zita Grover, et al. Title: Silver Lining: Photographs by Anne Noggle
Description: Albuquerque, NM, University of New Mexico Press, 1983. First Edition. Hardcover. White DJ with b&w photo illustration and grey and black lettering; black boards with silver lettering; x, 193 pp.; richly illustrated. To say that Anne Noggle is the only retired pilot who has ever taken a picture of herself showing the scars of a recent face-lift is to give some idea of how unusual both her career and the nature of her work have been. Noggle's self-portraits are a ruthless part of what she refers to as her "saga of the fallen flesh" -- a continuous documentation of the way people grow older. But Noggle cannot be pigeonholed as a documentary photographer. She is an expressionist with a constantly growing vision. Although her work is quite different from theirs, the only recent photographers to whom she can be compared are such famed portraitists as Diane Arbus and Richard Avedon. -- DJ. Good DJ, VG book (Ex art library with sticker on DJ spine and rear pastedown, and minimal markings; DJ is moderately toned with scuffing/smudging; boards have some light edgewear; textblock edges have light smudging; interior is very clean; binding is solid.) .
