"Over two thousand pieces of silver anterior to the year 1825 are described and more than a thousand are illustrated in this book. Of these about one thousand six hundred and forty were made by American silversmiths. The remainder consists chiefly of English plate, which numbers over two hundred and fifty pieces. The other European plate comprises seven Dutch and two German beakers; two French chalices, an ostensorium and a pair of cruets; a German ciborium; an Italian ciborium; a Spanish dish; and a Swedish chalice, paten and wafer box." (intro) An amazing book. Fair Cover has significant damage/tearing on cover hinge. Front cover partially seperated from binding. Outer spine has some seperation from binding, Cover has general wear, discoloration, some scratching. 2 blank pages at from of book free from binding but present. Bookblock shows some sign of wear along page edges. Interior pages are clean and white .
