Author: Nonni, Francesco Title: Xilografia
Description: Faenza, F. Lega, 1926. Softcover. 28 issues spanning three years, each issue for years 1924, 1925 contained 10 woodblock prints. The 4 issues for 1926 (Volume 3) were issued quarterly and had 30 woodblock plates in each. Some plates are color, or multi-colored. A full accounting of the artists in each issue is available upon application. All issues are collated complete. It has been estimated elsewhere that likely fewer than 20 complete sets of this very important periodical exist. 300 copies of each issue were printed. 9 mentions are found in Worldcat, most of them in Italy (Harvard, Newbury (inc.), Art Institute of Chicago, Getty (possibly incomplete), Cornell in the United States). These copies have been in deep storage for decades, and the interiors are remarkable, especially for the early issues which are very prone to damage because of the brittle paper they are printed on in Volume 1. Full title may be Xilografia pvbblicazione mensile di xilografie originali. Complete set similar to this sold at auction in 2019 for over US$11,000. VG or better overall. The early issues (vol. 1) are printed on awful quality paper and are very brittle. However, that being said, all prints are perfect with no damage, and the cover of Vol. 1 No. 1 xhibits the worst wear, having been on top of the pile of issues. But it is not terrible.
