Decorative end papers. 70 pp. plus 36 illuminated plates. Exquisite plates in stunning colors, each explained with full, accompanying text. Illuminations are the same size as the originals, from the Harleian Collection. Likely Flemish in origin and made for the historian Philip De Commines, with the De Commines arms often evident in ornamental borders. Each plate features the armor, embroidered surcoats, emblazoned banners, beautiful dresses and life of the chivalrous society, along with tournaments, horsmanship, warfare and festivals. VG+ with only light rubbing to to front spine; very clean and tight.
