Our knowledge of early English porcelain is still very much in the experimental stage, in spite of the time that has been devoted to its study in the last hundred years." (intro) Included as an appendix is a reprint of the unique copy of the 1755 sale catalogue of Chelsea porcelain. The title page calls for 7 full-page color plates, but my brief inspection only sees 6, unless one is hidden in plates 6-69 at the rear of the book. A very nice copy.
