East Village Other was an underground newspaper from New York (duh), known for its early embrace of the counterculture and counterculture aesthetics, often using absurdist pieces to provide social commentary. As an early proponent of the underground comix movement, EVO published work by R. Crumb (not in this issue) and others, as well as publishing a paper devoted to comix. This issue with a lengthy article by John Sinclair of the White Panther Party, on the novel Informed Sources, in which he discusses control and the power structure in the US; second part of a lengthy interview with Jerry Rubin, etc. Usual movement, music, drug and counterculture musings, etc. present. With several full page comix by Kim Deitch. GOOD condition. Haphazard horizontal fold crease present. Moderate toning and dark scuffing, perhaps ink residue from printing. A few small tears along the fold. A few faint spots of staining. Mailing label on the upper front cover. Minor creasing and tearing along the extremities. Good .
