Author: Various authors Title: The East Village Other. March 26, 1969. Vol. 4. , No. 17
Description: New York, East Village Other, Publisher, 1969. Tabloid. Side folding tabloid newspaper. 32 pp. Black and white illustrations and comix throughout. This includes underground comix by Simon Deitch the Deitch Brothers and Spain Rodriguez. East Village Other was an underground newspaper from New York (duh), known for its early embrace of the counterculture and counterculture aesthetics, often using absurdist pieces to provide social commentary. As an early proponent of the underground comix movement, EVO published work by R. Crumb, Trina Robbins (neither in this issue) and others, as well as publishing a paper devoted to comix. It appears the editors may have been operating under the influence of something during the production of this issue, with interesting layouts abounding. On top of this, it appears the creators and artists of Wacky Packages (remember those, kiddos?) staged a coup, placing Situationist or Dada inspired ads for cereal and other goods throughout. Usual articles on politics, counterculture, art, theater, etc. GOOD condition. Horizontal fold crease present. Moderate toning. Paper a bit brittle. Mailing label present. Heavy creasing to the upper corner. Good .
