East Village Other was an underground newspaper from New York (duh), known for its early embrace of the counterculture and counterculture aesthetics, often using absurdist pieces to provide social commentary. As an early proponent of the underground comix movement, EVO published work by R. Crumb, Trina Robbins (neither in this issue) and others, as well as publishing a paper devoted to comix. This issue with the first two pages devoted to the murder/assassination of Chicago Black Panther Party leader, Fred Hampton, killed in his bed by police (includes a large photo of Hampton); an article devoted to the plight of Black Panthers leader Bobby Seale, a poem by Tuli Kupferberg, etc. GOOD condition. Horizontal fold crease present. Moderate toning. Paper a bit brittle. Mailing label present. Good .
