Born in Manchester, he studied art before beginning a career that combined journalism and illustration. His early work as an editor and illustrator helped him develop the skills that would later define his career as an etcher, focusing on urban landscapes and historic architecture across Europe. Fitton gained widespread recognition for his etchings of iconic structures such as cathedrals, windmills, and historic buildings in cities like London, Paris, and Florence. His works, including The Pantheon, Rome and The Rose Window, Notre Dame, captured architectural grandeur with remarkable precision. He exhibited widely and earned numerous accolades during his lifetime, with his etchings entering prestigious collections and gaining popularity among collectors. In his later years, Fitton lived in Haslemere, Surrey, where he continued to create etchings until his death in 1929. Though the popularity of etching waned after his time, his works remain admired for their technical excellence and artistic beauty. Fitton is remembered as a master of architectural printmaking whose legacy endures through his timeless depictions of historic landmarks. ; 12mo 7" - 7½" tall. Very Good with no dust jacket .
