Kyce Bello is an American poet, nurse, and herbalist based in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Her poetry is deeply rooted in the landscapes of the Southwest, exploring themes of ecological change, ancestry, motherhood, and spiritual resilience. Her debut collection, Refugia (2019) , won the inaugural Test Site Poetry Series Prize and received the 2020 New Mexico/Arizona Book Award. This work reflects on climate disruption, intergenerational memory, and the sacredness of place. Her second collection, Far Country (2025) , continues these themes, delving into grief, transformation, and the unseen connections between the living and the dead. Bello holds an interdisciplinary degree in Southwest Studies and Creative Writing from the University of New Mexico and earned an MFA in poetry from the Institute of American Indian Arts. Of Cuban and Puerto Rican descent, she brings a rich cultural perspective to her writing. In addition to her literary work, she is a certified clinical herbalist and registered nurse, professions that inform her poetic engagement with healing and the natural world..
