Jefferson Farjeon (1883–1955) was a British novelist, playwright, and journalist best known for his crime and mystery fiction. Born in London into a literary and theatrical family—his father was the novelist Benjamin Farjeon, and his siblings included the children’s author Eleanor Farjeon—he began his career in journalism before turning to fiction. Farjeon wrote more than 60 novels, often praised for their vivid characters and atmospheric settings. One of his best-known works, Mystery in White (1937) , was rediscovered and republished to much acclaim in the 21st century. He also wrote plays and screenplays, including the story for Alfred Hitchcock’s early film Number Seventeen. His work, marked by suspense and a humane touch, made a significant contribution to mid-20th-century British crime literature.. Good+ with no dust jacket .
