Born in Newmarket, Suffolk, he was educated at Cheltenham College before joining the RNAS in 1914. Livock earned his pilot's certificate in December of that year and served aboard the seaplane tender HMS Engadine, conducting reconnaissance missions over the North Sea during World War I. In 1918, following the formation of the RAF, Livock continued his service, notably contributing to anti-submarine patrols and operations during the North Russia intervention. His exemplary performance earned him the Distinguished Flying Cross in 1918 and the Air Force Cross in 1929.Between the wars, Livock played a pivotal role in advancing military aviation, commanding long-distance flying boat missions to Egypt, Cyprus, and the Far East. These missions demonstrated the operational capabilities of flying boats over extended distances. During World War II, he commanded RAF Kalafrana in Malta, overseeing critical air operations in the Mediterranean. Beyond his military career, Livock was an accomplished cricketer, playing as a right-handed batsman and wicket-keeper for teams including Middlesex and the Royal Air Force. He also had a keen interest in archaeology, conducting aerial surveys and contributing to the Suffolk Institute of Archaeology. In 1973, he published his memoir, To the Ends of the Air, detailing his extensive experiences in early military aviation.. Very Good- with no dust jacket .
