Born on October 19, 1963, in New York City, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy from Yale University in 1985 and a Ph. D. In psychology from the University of Pennsylvania in 1992. Haidt began his academic career at the University of Virginia, where he taught for 16 years before joining New York University's Stern School of Business in 2011 as the Thomas Cooley Professor of Ethical Leadership. His notable works include The Happiness Hypothesis (2006) , which explores the relationship between ancient philosophies and modern science; The Righteous Mind (2012) , examining the psychological foundations of politics and religion; and The Coddling of the American Mind (2018) , co-authored with Greg Lukianoff, addressing rising political polarization and mental health issues among college students. In 2024, Haidt published The Anxious Generation, analyzing how modern technology, such as smartphones and social media, contributes to increased mental health issues among youth. Haidt's research has significantly influenced our understanding of moral psychology, offering insights into the intuitive foundations of morality and how they vary across cultural and political landscapes..
