Born in Turin, Italy, he studied chemistry at the University of Turin and worked as a chemist before being arrested as part of the Italian resistance in 1943. Deported to Auschwitz in 1944, he survived due to his scientific skills, which led to his assignment in a chemical laboratory. After the war, Levi returned to Turin and resumed his career in chemistry while also becoming a prolific writer. His works, including The Truce (1963) and The Periodic Table (1975) , explored themes of survival, memory, and the moral implications of the Holocaust. His writing combined scientific precision with deep humanism, making his reflections on history, ethics, and identity profoundly influential. Levi died in 1987 in what was officially ruled a suicide, though the circumstances remain debated. His literary legacy continues to shape Holocaust literature and ethical discussions about history and human nature.. Good+ with no dust jacket .
