Born in Rangoon to missionary parents, his first language was Karen. He earned his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University in 1921 and returned to Burma in 1922, establishing a hospital in Namkham near the China border. During World War II, Seagrave served as a surgeon with the U. S. Army Medical Corps, notably assisting General Joseph Stilwell during the Burma Campaign. His memoir, "Burma Surgeon," details his experiences during this period. Post-war, he continued his medical mission in Burma until his death in 1965.. Very Good- in Fair dust jacket .
