Title: Occasional Addresses; and the Letters of Mr. Ambrose on the Rebellion
Description: New York, Putnam, 1872. First Edition. 0 pp. Hardcover. Good in brown cloth-covered boards showing some wear to extremities and light soiling, loose binding, splitting between pages 216 and 217, starting to front hinge at pastedown, sticker remains to front pastedown and label with name of former owner to front fly page. This is NOT an ex-library copy. The only notation is on p. 457 where the reader crossed out the subtitle "On the Rebellion" at the top of the page and wrote in "Civil War." Fascinating collection of addresses and letters related to Maryland and Baltimore history. 11 addresses covering a variety of occasions: "Opening of the Collegiate Department in the University of Maryland" (1831); before the Horticultural Society of Maryland at its First Annual Exhibition (1833); and at the ".Inauguration of the Peabody Institute," to name a few. 11 historical letters as well on such major issues as Secession, Revolution, Rebellion, Conspiracy, State Rights and Sovereignty, and Peace. An important collection. Good.
