Description: Baltimore, 1814. 0 pp. No Binding. Near fine. Hand-written letter from Isaac Munroe to Joseph E. Smith, dated June 12, 1814. One sheet appox. 16x11 folded to make three pages. The page is used for the address, postage notation, wax seal and postmark (Baltimore, June 12). Original irregular edges. New find with a small tear in the margin of the first page (attached to the wax seal) which partially obscures two works on p. 2. Munroe write to Smith, a Boston attorney, about current matters and responds to Smith's request for information on how Smith's brother might qualify as an attorney in Maryland: "lawyers here are as thick as hailstones-scores of them having concentrated here from all parts of the U.S." Munroe also discuss the War of 1812 and expresses his desire to peace with England. He also takes delight in the recent demise of Napoleon. Isaac Munroe was the publisher of the Baltimore Patriot and correspondence exists between him and Edgar Allan Poe. Interesting letter written from Baltimore during the middle of the War of 1812. Near Fine.
