Extensive article, "Seeking Western Homes" (p. 7), about 18 children being sent by rail to Iowa at the expense of Mr. Whitehall Reid. Lengthy descriptions of each child, based on the children's own words. Mr. Reid has sent 135 children Westward. Also, article (p. 14) on a "Colored Convention" held in Richmond that protested the treatment of blacks in Virginia including the imprisonment of a mixed race couple (Edmund Kinney and wife) in jail and requesting the doing away with the law against intermarriage. A committee of 3 was appointed to travel to Washington to talk with Republican politicians about the need to establish equal rights for "colored people" and their rights of "emigration". Also, extensive article, "Seeking Western Homes" about 18 children being sent by rail to Iowa at the expense of Mr. Whitehall Reid. Lengthy descriptions of each child, based on the children's own words. Mr. Reid has sent 135 children Westward. Good.
