Title: Pioneer History of the Holland Purchase of Western New York Embracing Some Account of the Ancient Remains;
Description: Buffalo, Jewett, Thomas / George H. Derby & Company, 1850. 1st Edition. 0 pp. Hardcover. Fair in quarter-leather boards present but separated from text. Boards show some wear to the corners and spine extremities. Spine cover is missing. There is a tear to one of the front end papers. Two of the three front endpoapers are stuck together with writing in light pencil stating a school (?). Pasted to the front endpaper is an article on "Indian Lands and Annuities: Purchases of the Holland and Ogden Land Companies Explained". Written at the top if "Daily News Sept. 14 1888). Another article labeled "New York Tribune / Monday March 9, 1903" is entitles "A Big Colonial Estate. From Which Nine New-York Counties Were Carved". Mainly light foxing to margins of some pages; very few pages have York stains but pages are still quite readable. First 7 pages (including end papers) are held on by two strings. No pages are missing. Four- page pamphlet on the "Kanadesaaga and Geneva" book by Geo. S. Conover and map of Ontario County in NY at time of purchase also laid in. Portraits (full-page) of leading personalities appearing in the text have dampstains and foxing. Index at front of the book. 668 p. Quite readable. Fair.
