A set of two hardcover books bound in half red leather with black cloth boards and patterned endpapers. Very good condition overall. Pale speckles on front covers of both volumes. Edges rubbed and chafe marks on the spines. Head of volume 2's spine is chipped about 1/4" deep. First blank endpaper in voplume 1 is torn. Otherwise, text clean and binding tight. The complete two-volume set in the original red leather binding, which is now rarely found among available copies. Illustrated with lots of black and white engravings. This copy contains the gift stamp of Nation Oliver Mather (1875-1938), an Ohio state senator. Very Good .
