Faint circular stain on front cover of volume II. A few page edges lightly chipped in volume IV, not affecting the readability of the text. On volume V, the spine is crinkled and there is a small brown stain on the side edge. Scattered foxing; otherwise, text unmarked across the set. Bindings are a bit shaken from years of handling, but are secure enough for normal reading purposes. The first edition, first printing of each volume, published across 1855-1859. .
