A unique collection of 40 American political pamphlets from 1840 covering a variety of subjects, such as slavery, the Treasury, and Indian treaties. Includes speeches by multiple representatives from Ohio, including John Hastings ("On the Independent Treasury Bill"), William K. Bond ("On the Treasury Note Bill"), Benjamin Tappan ("On Abolition Petitions"), Samson Mason ("On the General Appropriation Bill: Charge against General Harrison for Voting to Sell White Men for Debt"), Joshua R. Giddings ("On the Bill Providing for the Civil and Diplomatic Expenses of Government for the Year 1840"), Alexander Duncan ("On the General Appropriation Bill for 1840"), John B. Weller ("On the General Appropriation Bill"). Also contains a lengthy speech by Rep. William Slade of Vermont on issues such as abolition and North-South sectional tensions. .
