This volume features a facsimile of Lincoln's handwritten Gettysburg Address (p. 886), a poem by Elizabeth Barrett Browning ("The Cry of the Children," p. 867), a drawing by Winslow Homer ("Bob's Question," p. 664), and numerous contributions by the magazine's creator, Mary Mapes Dodge.
