 - Original Invitation to the Cornonation of King Edward VII

Title: Original Invitation to the Cornonation of King Edward VII
Description: 1902. RARE ORIGINAL INVITATION TO THE CORONATION OF KING EDWARD VII OF ENGLAND. Printed on heavy cardstock framed with intricate royal insignia, with the guest's name, Mrs. Wm. Gibson, handwritten in black ink. Also features the embossed seal of the Earl Marshal of England, Henry, Duke of Norfolk. Very good condition overall. The paper is lightly foxed, and there is a tiny closed tear on the left edge. The guest's name appears to have been slightly retouched --- the "s" in "Gibson" has been traced over in blue ink. It also looks like the guest's name was rewritten by whoever originally filled out the invitation; there is faint smudging over which the name was finally written. Overall, a fascinating and attractive piece of English royal history! The coronation of Edward VII was originally scheduled for June 26, 1902, as printed on this invitation. However, due to a sudden abdominal health issue that required Edward to undergo surgery, the coronation was postponed to August 9, 1902. Very Good .
