Description: New York, D. & J. Sadlier & Co, 1853. First Edition, First Printing. Paperback. 27p. A softcover booklet in good condition. Corners creased, spine crinkled, and light chipping at head and foot of spine. Speckly stains along top edge, and some flecks of ink on back cover. All pages heavily foxed, and a few are uncut. Text is otherwise unmarked, and binding is tight. McGee was a Catholic political activist who drummed up support for the Canadian Confederation and, after initially supporting Irish nationalism, became deeply conservative. He was assassinated in 1868, allegedly by an Irish Fenian (McGee denounced Fenianism later in his life). Good .
